Hardware error 03130031-2F2C means your Canon imagePROGRAF has experienced a cassette shift timeout. This means the target position could not be reached within a predicted operation time +3 seconds during cassette operation. It can also mean no sensor has been detected during a pump operation involving sensor detection. The screen will also prompt you to restart the printer.
BEFORE POWERING DOWN, it is always important to remove any paper jams inside the printer. If a jam has been removed be certain to return the carriage/print head(s) to the docked position on the right side of the printer. Open the top cover lid to observe this.
If the carriage travels heavily near the stop position, a mechanical load error may be suspected. Otherwise the cassette unit sensor may be at fault.
If rebooting the printer doesn't clear the error, check to see if a mechanical load error is present. By "mechanical load error" we mean looking to see if something is obstructing the path, in other words, a jam. If a jam is not the culprit, a cassette unit sensor will be the appropriate part for replacement.
We discourage attempting any repairs without proper training, knowledge, and specialized tools. Ignoring this warning could result in injury or death.
If you plan to fix it yourself, please begin disconnecting the power source and contact us to order genuine Canon parts.
Before making any repairs, consider your printers age. Old printers may not have parts available any longer and the best option is to let it die. Also, legacy (old) printers may not be compatible with new computers/operating systems, meaning your printer could easily become nothing more than a conversation piece once you buy a new computer. For information on Canon's current line of new large format printers, please see the links to the right. They are sorted by industry for convenience.
