There are some things to be aware of though, and having just a little bit of advanced knowledge can help you steer clear of bad buys.

There are risks involved anytime you buy anything on the used market. The problem is there's no way to know how the previous owner treated the equipment. Did they maintain it properly and have it serviced at regular intervals, and did they use genuine manufacturer parts and accessories instead of generic and low cost knock offs.
The longer the list of previous owners, the harder it is to get the full history. Buyer beware!
